Cyclist badly hurt in road crash

30 July 2011 Last updated at 09:11 GMT Location map The incident caused delays on the A550 and A55 A cyclist was seriously injured in a road crash in Flintshire on Friday afternoon.

A VW Golf was in collision with the cyclist at 15:15 BST on Chester Road, Dobshill.

The A550 was closed in both directions and the incident caused serious traffic problems close to the junction with the A55.

North Wales Police are investigating.

Tributes to GP in tractor crash

14 July 2011 Last updated at 12:01 GMT Dr Gwion Rhys The family of Dr Gwion Rhys said he was always willing to help others Tributes have been paid to a GP who was killed in a collision with a tractor in Gwynedd.

Dr Gwion Rhys, 38, of Llanarmon, was involved in the collision at Pentre Uchaf, near Pwllheli, on Tuesday.

His death has been described as a "huge loss" to his family and the community.

In a statement, the doctor's family said he was a kind man who was always willing to help, and who always saw the best in people.

Born in Bow Street, near Aberystwyth, Dr Rhys had worked as a GP in Nefyn and Llanaelhaearn for 10 years.

In a statement released by North Wales Police his family said: "People were very important to him and since the tragedy on Tuesday we have heard how much the community appreciated his work.

End Quote Gwion Rhys's family statement "But first and foremost, Gwion Rhys was a family man. A husband to Manon, a father to Owain, Luned, Ifan and Deio, a brother to Garmon and a son to Enid and Alun Jones. His family were always his priority.

"His death is a huge loss to his family as well as the community he made every effort to be a central part of. He was a kind man who was always willing to help and who always saw the best in people."

The inquest was opened into the death of Dr Rhys on Thursday. It was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision.

Tributes to death crash teenager

8 July 2011 Last updated at 15:02 GMT Emma Jayne Allman Emma Jayne Allman was studying to be a primary school teacher The parents of teenager who died after the car she was driving hit a bridge in Cardiff on Wednesday, have spoken of their "tragic loss".

Penylan student Emma Jayne Allman's Mini crashed on the northbound A4232 at the Culverhouse Cross interchange.

The 19-year-old's parents described her as "beautiful" and said she had a "bubbly, fun loving" personality.

Two male passengers were treated at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, for injuries.

In a statement, Miss Allman's mum Jacqueline, said the former Howells Girls School pupil had finished her first year of studying at university at Caerleon, Newport and was looking forward to fulfilling her lifelong ambition to become a primary school teacher.

"Emma had a bubbly, fun loving personality and was adored by all who knew her," said her mother.

"This is a tragic loss and Emma will be deeply missed by all her family and friends."

Her father Gary said in a separate statement: "My beautiful daughter was all to me. I will sadly miss her laughter and smile. My heart will never mend.

"Her spirit will be with me always. My love for her will continue until one day I will be with her.

"Emma was loved by her friends and I hope that she as found peace. When she took her first step I caught her. We loved each other always.

"Emma - I love you with all my heart Dad x."

South Wales Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash involving her black 08-registered Mini at around 2140 BST, to contact the serious collision investigation unit on 01656 869332.
