Thomas suffered the injury late in the first half and did not return to the field after the interval.
"The physio has said it looks like a broken arm," said Crusaders coach Iestyn Harris.
"If it is a clean break, you are looking at six to eight weeks but, if it has to be plated, it may be longer."
Harris also confirmed the leg injury which forced prop Mark Bryant to leave the field during the first half would also be assessed.
The Crusaders had faced Hull KR without seven players who had been suspended by the club for a breach of discipline.
Jordan Tansey, Lloyd White, Jason Chan, Richard Moore, Gil Dudson, Peter Lupton and Jarrod Sammut missed the defeat on Saturday.
But Harris confirmed the matter was now at an end and the players would resume training with the Crusaders squad.
"The chapter's closed," confirmed Harris. "They'll come back into training on Monday.
"You would expect them to come in on Monday with a point to prove.
"I expect them to have some energy and enthusiasm plus a desire to get themselves back into the team."
