By-election as councillor resigns

6 July 2011 Last updated at 13:13 GMT Richard Jones The council said Mr Jones was resigning due to extra work and family commitments. An election will be held for the third time in as many years in part of Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd, after the resignation of a county councillor.

Llais Gwynedd member Richard Lloyd Jones was elected after a by-election nearly a year ago in the Diffwys and Maenofferen ward.

The council said it was due to extra family and work commitments.

A previous Llais Gwynedd councillor for the seat quit after being jailed for assaulting his estranged wife.

Gwilym Euros Roberts had been elected in 2008 during the main county council elections held across Wales.

The by-election to fill the vacant seat will be held in September.
